FOAB – NOWA SYSTEM (WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT)

In a significant expansion of our environmental solutions, Foab Solutions Private Limited signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in October 2024 with the CSIR-National Institute for Interdisciplinary Science and Technology (NIIST), Thiruvananthapuram. This strategic partnership authorizes us to manufacture and support advanced wastewater treatment plants using NOWA, a patented and sustainable onsite technology developed by CSIR-NIIST.

Understanding NOWA Technology

NOWA (NIIST Onsite Wastewater Treatment System) is an engineered biological system designed specifically for the Indian context to manage organic-rich wastewater from hotels, restaurants, catering units, and small communities. It serves as a superior, cost-effective replacement for imported technologies like MBBR or SBR.

Key Advantages of NOWA
  • Resource Recovery: Unlike traditional treatment methods, NOWA simultaneously recovers reuse-quality water, bioenergy (biogas), and organic manure from wastewater.
  • Efficiency: The system recovers 70–80% of inlet organic contaminants as biogas through a unique combined anaerobic-aerobic microbial process.
  • Compact Footprint: A typical 10 KLD (Kilo Liters per Day) unit requires less than 18 square meters, making it ideal for space-constrained urban environments.
  • Low Maintenance: The technology consumes less electricity, requires no frequent sludge disposal, and has significantly lower operational and maintenance costs.
  • Certified & Approved: NOWA is officially approved by the Kerala State Suchitwa Mission and is actively promoted for decentralized implementation at the panchayat and industrial levels.

Through this collaboration, Foab Solutions is proud to bring this cutting-edge, “Made in India” scientific innovation to the field, helping businesses and local bodies achieve sustainable water management while significantly reducing their environmental and financial burdens.
